Over two decades ago, a business immigrant from Jaffna,
settled in Gujarat, dreamed of doing something different.
Hailing from Sri Lanka, he was familiar with South Indian
food better than most. Apprising the market tastes acutely
and accurately, he decided to capitalise on his strengths;
viz. his knowledge of culinary preparations, and made bold
forays into opening a restaurant of South Indian delicacies
in Ahmedabad, India. The man was Ramavtar Goenka and the
restaurant was SANKALP. The rest, as they say, is history.
