Over two decades ago, a business immigrant from Jaffna, settled in Gujarat, dreamed of doing something different. Hailing from Sri Lanka, he was familiar with South Indian food better than most. Apprising the market tastes acutely and accurately, he decided to capitalise on his strengths; viz. his knowledge of culinary preparations, and made bold forays into opening a restaurant of South Indian delicacies in Ahmedabad, India. The man was Ramavtar Goenka and the restaurant was SANKALP. The rest, as they say, is history.

With an ever-increasing chain of eating establishments spread at select locales in the city, each one exactly recreating the Sankalp experience, there has been no looking back. New inclusions are constantly made to the menu, along with value additions like food festivals, private catering and comprehensive South Indian Cuisine, each one adding towards making it a household name.

With overwhelming customer response, the restaurant was an instant success and went on to become an established brand.Similiar ventures followed, laying firm foundations in their wake. Today, Sankalp is synonymous with authentic South Indian cuisine, excellent service and family outings.
